Phaseolus vulgaris var. vulgaris
High yielding and formerly very popular runner bean with blue-violet, tasty, thick fleshy pods.
This variety is versatile for cooking, e.g. cooked for bean vegetables, salads. The ripe seeds are cream-colored and can also be prepared as dry beans. The blue, tender pods of the robust variety turn green when cooked. During the flower and pod formation it is recommended to keep the soil evenly moist to prevent the flowers from falling off. Requires sufficient climbing aid, as the variety climbs up to 3 m.
